Solidaridad Network

We have been engaged in several of Solidaridad‘s programmes and activities. Solidaridad brings together supply chain actors and engages them in innovative solutions to improve production, ensuring the transition to a sustainable and inclusive economy.

Programme management

For Solidaridad, we have managed programmes and projects in the cotton, textile and garment sectors. Our focus is on living wage, gender equality, and sustainable fashion. Ethics at Work’s Bart Slob has represented Solidaridad on the steering committee of the Dutch Agreement on Sustainable Garments and Textile. He has also been a part of Solidaridad’s policy influencing team and corporate engagement team.

Research and coordination

For Solidaridad and PAN UK, we developed the 2023 Cotton Ranking. The ranking revealed that only 9 of the 82 largest cotton-sourcing companies bought nearly all of their cotton from certified sources. We also co-authored a paper that underscored the imperative for brands to source cotton sustainably, ensuring farmers’ well-being and environmental protection.

We reviewed tools and approaches used to assess purchasing practices in the garment sector and created an assessment tool for Solidaridad’s partnerships with garment brands.

Representation in the United Kingdom

We helped Solidaridad strengthen its presence in the UK, focusing on engagement and partnership opportunities.

Lobby and advocacy support

We wrote policy papers about advocacy on business and human rights in Europe, and about ways to move beyond certification.
